The idea that you'd have to quit smoking, bypass Starbucks and cut back on restaurants is a non-starter for most.It takes years to build a nest egg. 

And you can forget it if they work in a restaurant, bar, or any of those other kind of cash jobs.

I got burned by this and it is very maddening to be told they are in dire straights and have no money for even a partial rent payment yet you see them dragging in lots of take out from a $30/person restaurant (where thye are not working at).

I've seen MANY of these so called "deals" on Loop Net with space for some shoppers / restaurant goers.

The tenants can't afford to go out to eat, so the restaurants have to give them free sit down meals? 

If you have a restaurant, the tenant will come to you for rent abatement.  

Take them out to dinner at a nice restaurant and encourage them to talk about their experiences, really share their wisdom with you and your wife.

A few weeks ago a shopping center was deserted except for some cars parked around the market and the take out restaurant.

Large companies and restaurant chains have told their lenders they will not be paying rent and it goes on and on and on.
