Personally, and this is just my opinion, given that you can lock in those profits from stocks now, that's exactly what I'd do, with the exception of any well managed funds and roll over those over into what I believe is a more stable investment - real estate.These are just opinion and not professional financial advice.

I have a buddy who did this...They bought the most run down they could find, put a couple grand in them, and "rent to own" and usually got  pretty stable tenants out of them.

The areas of York and Lancaster are also great.Central PA is a nice stable market, with great diversity of employment, a few hours drive from NYC, Philly, and DC.You have to be a little bit careful in down town Harrisburg, but the suburbs and whole capital market is great from a cash flow and growth perspective.
