The alternative is to get the LLC taxed as a corporation which is less common because it is less advantageous.The case for non US persons is more unusual for CPA, and I believe that the most economic setup for a LLC for tax if at all depends on which country you are resident.

@Kristopher MillerWhen choosing your Accountant/CPA, make sure that the person understands New York State taxation and real estate taxation.New York State taxation is one of the more complex in the country and I often pick up clients from those who are based out of a different state trying to tackle/understand NY State Tax.There are a couple of CPA's out of NY on biggerpockets.
