Usually property taxes pay for municipal items like police, fire, city, and schools.

I'm a full time police officer and I work part time for another department.

When I have a tenant move in, I let them know how slow police response time in our area is and advise them to practice their 2nd amendment right ;)

There is a reason why as much as two thirds of City of LA employees don't actually live in LA and why only 21 percent of police department or 16% of the fire department actually live in LA -- they can't afford it but these are a substantial amount of the people who will be in the market to buy or rent.

But then we complain about crime and cut police and not let them enforce the laws.  

They will either have a low paying but meaningful career such as Police, Fireman, Teachers and Teachers Aides, Bus Drivers etc.

An AC broke, a tenant argument occurred that resulted in 2 calls to the police and us letting a tenant terminate their lease early due to Homophobic neighbors, a mainline plumbing backup that resulted in having to replace some of the carpet in the unit, and a water heater giving out. 

LA City is one of the worst with their SCEP police. 

Fairfield is bankrupt & their police ride around fining contractors without permits posted even if they have one.

Interestingly, a couple of people above said "Nah ... only the poor people are moving out, the rich are doing ok"Well, the police officers, teachers and nurses are still needed right?
