Without the necessary ground work in place such as a good paying secure job, significant savings, high credit score etc. you are gambling not investing. 

There is a difference in gambling and investing. 

Excel tends to be considered less sophisticated than other software platforms but it can actually be extremely powerful and you can customize and program it to fit your exact needs.

I think the real majority of people just want to spend all their money and don't really care about learning how to make more. the SMALL subset of population who are investors have a myriad of different platforms and preferences of strategy. of those, an even smaller subset like real estate.
