I only know because my 80 yo mother got a call from them  HEY you have money you can collect just sign here..Well I knew which county they probably had overages in so it was not difficult for me to contact the tax collector and retrieve the funds for my mother for FREE. 

@Jason Reynolds The assignment fee is collected at the start for your role as a principal in the transaction.

This is no problem at all when you're collecting 3-5% plus first and last from your T/B.

Most agents are commission driven, and it will be hard to convince a seller to pay commission on an amount of money yet-to-be collected (in a traditional transaction there is no strings attached, commission typically comes out of equity proceeds from closing).That said...
