I've been learning, researching, and taking extensive notes; it all seems like a lot to swallow all at once. 

Mitigating extensive fire damage could very well be more expensive than rebuilding from the ground up.Also keep in mind that state laws will likely require you to disclose any material defects or damages to the home - even if they've all be repaired.

Will the rent be the same for the extension?

If not, file that instance.

I know it's a bit late in the year to be looking for help on 2019 taxes but, with the extension out until July, I'm hoping there are some good CPA's looking for clients.
