For reasons mentioned by Jon and others, holding RE in a retirement account is not the best use of the funds (in my opinion; and Jon Holdman).Notes and trust deed investments (private money) is the best use in my opinion.Also, if you qualify, set up a solo 401k as opposed to the IRA, it is a much better vehicle and there are many posts on BP here where I explain in detail why.

I believe that if you take mileage reimbursement, it covers all vehicle related expenses, so you can not get reimbursement for gas.
