So ideally I would keep the energy creation meter in my name and the energy consumption meter would be in my tenants name.If that doesn't work, my thought is to keep the energy bill in my name and then charge my tenants for the energy consumed every month, while taking the energy produced as cash flow.

You do however have to maintain them including keeping minutes, separate financials, ideally separate bank accounts, and file tax returns.

Using the search feature here on BP in the forums and seeing if anyone else is talking about that market is also a good place to start.Finally, doing your own deal analysis/underwriting and making sure the deal still works under less than ideal circumstances is a must.

I know Rhode Island is small but I think if you can at least get started with them with a RI deal or two that would be ideal, its a big jump to take that type of money and trust by investing it in a new, unfamiliar market.
