I'm now living at/managing the complex in exchange for little to no living expenses.

My thinking is regarding 1031 exchanging properties until I build up a net capital gain of 500k then live in it 2 years to sell it tax free.

We helped the owner do a 1031 exchange on his building and buy the two others.

I'm a SFR investor and I'd like to do a 1031 exchange with a few of my properties into a small multifamily.I had some financial trouble awhile back and allowed the bank to foreclose on one of my rentals.

That being said, we live in Aurora, and even though the prices are high in Denver, we opted to purchase something there instead of elsewhere (currently going through a 1031 exchange on both properties).

In my experience, local homebuyer assistance is usually a trade-off; money for downpayment or closing costs in exchange for a higher interest rate.
