You'll know the area, you'll know the parking, the attractions, how close or far from whatever the local hotspots are, etc. 

I would think the Plaza would be a hot spot, then maybe next to the stadiums or out by the big race track.

For STRs, the Shenandoah Mtns are an AirDNa up and coming hot spot in VA, as is Chesapeake.
