Your agent can get a Property Condition Report off of HUDs website that has the condition of the water supply, HVAC, roof, electric, etc.

Best advice i can give you is to get active on the website ask and answer questions that you know and the speed at which you will learn will be shocking. 

Look on Craigslist, local rental website, or local classified ads and try to find something similar.

I realize I can probably find equivalent information either on BP or other REI  websites.

You may also try to submit investing articles on some high-volume finance websites.  

Rob Grove you can contact the owner prior to the foreclosure auction or go to the auction and bid.Most large banks won't deal directly with individuals once they foreclose on it, until they list it with an agent or online website.
