check your nearest big box home improvement store and ask if there are available scratch and dent units, negotiate accordingly.

With the extra income from my full-time job, and if my calculations are correct (which they are) I could have the house paid off at exactly the time we move out in July 2018.

Sometimes we have to pay to make sure it's right all the way around and have an insured contractor to fall back on if anything is not right... if you touch it the first thing anyone on the job will do is point the finger at you and attack your competence to do whatever you do....
