We have seen some states claiming you can't use the old 2 people per bedroom limits because that discriminates against certain cultures who have big families or house extended families together.  

That also extended the timeline quite a bit.

But here comes the frustrating part: Property disclosure says "basement leaks water when it rains hard for an extended period".

I have been going to all the banks in my area, and all of the online banks available to me through bigger pockets and so far, not one of them will extend me financing for a 50000 4-unit with 30% down.

I reckon too much can go wrong (eg. extended vacancy), and I'm not sure you're taking all ongoing expenses into proper account. 

What I find disconcerting is we're starting to discuss the possibility of a shutdown extending into an indefinite future.California had this problem a few years ago (its state constitution specifies a deadline the legislature must meet, but has no penalty for missing the deadline).

@James WilliamsIf you're serious about going full-time and replacing what is likely a decent salary as an engineer, I would definitely recommend raising some money.It can be tricky, but most people raise their first extended fund from friends and family.

Also the financing was from a bank and we've already got 18 months of interest only payments, so that option is kind of out, although I could see if they would extend my original line of credit.

Is there an appeal that may extend that restriction timeline?
