My understanding is that renter's insurance covers their items and gets you off the hook if someone falls on the property that they are renting, or if they negligently left a pot on the stove and the kitchen burned - their fault, their insurance not you.

But I see other seniors in my building with gambling problems (lots of Indian casinos around here), who smoke cigarettes and/or pot, who spend their money at the local bar, going out to eat, buying new clothes, etc.

It is like having a bunch of strangers having the power to interfere with your investment.And then there are the board members who decide it's their mission in life to harass owners/tenants about every weird thing, like potted plants on the balcony or whatever.I only bought the one condo, intending to keep it forever and rent it out.
