The bad side is that homes are very expensive there (I'm from Arlington and have seen the increase in prices).Also, it is my opinion that you are better off having a 2nd house rented out and having someone help you than if you didn't.

@Nick FarrellIf you have your own money for a down payment, holding costs, rehab, good credit score and a good w-2 income:Do it by yourself.If you are relying on your dad for all or some of the above: Go in with dad.If it was me I would not go into business with any family because in my opinion the two don't mix well.
