I started reading that thread again, found a link to biggerpockets and listened to tons of podcasts and read the articles/forums.  

There's a few articles in the New York Times of how this is the new wave for investors and even seemingly 'private' buys.

I also suggest you check out lawschool sites, Harvard Law Review has articles dealing with business, entities, real estate and financial topics.
