I was wondering about when using real estate agents and finding potential deals off of the MLS, how are you able to make multiple offers on multiple different properties to see if one lands?

I am new into investing and was wondering if I should take the risk and invest into it granted I do not know much about foundations of a home. 

There seems to be a gap between what the beginner guide, articles, and podcasts teach and what I don't know, which is this: applying all of the formulas, calculations, and tips to real world examples.
