If so, then I'd consider looking for another primary residence, something that is a great deal that you can force some appreciation via sweat equity, and move into it while converting your current home into a rental.

Not unless they were forced to somehow - and even then they'd probably attempt to charge some significant 1-2 month lease cancellation fee (whatever you agreed to in the contract).
