As far as managing the property: IRS rules prohibit any disqualified person to provide services to qualified plan.

However, you missed the specifics of the question: it was not about just rental losses, but losses transferred to you via K-1 as a passive investor in a syndication.

Companies won’t agree to continue to lose money on their premiums.They have been denied here before - most major insurance providers (the State Farm’s, Allstate, etc) pulled out of the outer banks years ago.
