our first exit strategy was to sell own a wrap around mortgage creating a second note and financing our desired equity position but to find the end buyer was a challenge so we decided to rent it out after 3 months of vacancy Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

I recommend reading Daniel Rusteen's book "Optimize Your BNB" and learn how to be an awesome HOST.

I know some great commercial agents up here that I'd be happy to recommend, but I'm curious, what draws you to the Retail/Commercial space? 

That's where I recommend you confirm - can you really make more money renting by the room vs the entire place?
