My answer for consumer clients is different. 

Do your best to mitigate issue before they crop up and annoy residents.Maybe create a free service, for those that are not using your management services, to come and review their STRs for safety, procedures for help etc.

You can buy a pre-sale hotel-condominium with resort like services and property management features for 100-150k.

This will be my 14th yr in the business and I have client's who are primarily investing from out of the state and country. 

It's more likely to be in the PMs interest to provide the data since it may result in gaining a new client.

For example, working with insurance companies who's clients home has been destroyed (fire, flood, wind etc). 

I personally invest in Kansas City, Ohio, PA, TN, NC and I help clients in all those states plus IL, MI, GA, FL and many others. 

Think of it like the escrows you likely pay your mortgage servicer for Insurance and Taxes, or your estimated taxes to IRS.
