I suppose one reason that many people don't like to put their goals out there is fear or embarrassment of being seen as a failure if they don't achieve them.

I believe the best way to learn and achieve my goal is through connecting with like minded people.

Meeting them in person will help you gauge their motivation to sell.

These two aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, but more so just knowing what your goals are and where this investor and his connection can help achieve your goals.If it were me, and a small slice of ownership were on the table, I would take that all day.
