RE can be a hobby for a few years.A job in the summer with a contractor will teach you construction methods, a huge plus.To learn RE, get a text book for real estate agents they use to take their test to become an agent!

I try to teach people that they need to know their sales pitch and how to close the deals in and out before getting into a deal.  

Is it mainly just a social hour and everyone chats or do you have speakers/investors come in and try to teach?

We discussed getting comps but I would have thought he was going to mentor me on maybe how to wholesale the property since he was the one teaching the wholesale class.
