How do I go about using the knowledge and expertise of an agent while not becoming too much of a burden by making them show me houses all over New Jersey?

A little about me,  I am an investor from Silicon Valley doing a few things- investing in real estate, am a real estate broker in California and work in Technology sector in Silicon Valley.

You get to leverage their expertise. 

I have great math skills and analytical skills, but when it comes to real estate, I don't have that expertise at all.

However, I could use some direction on what I should focus my learning as well as what specific area of expertise of mentor I should be searching.

This is my expertise, I have the resume to back it up. 

This will be a short term rental.I would greatly appreciate your expertise and advise.I have some questions in regards to:What door locks do you use?

Of course, this may change in terms of location and sector.

I look at structure first, if the house isn't sound then I tend to stay away from it because it's not my area of expertise.

For rents, I would start by talking to property managers who will have more expertise.
