In states I know of, the right to exercise any redemption rights needs to be made before any foreclosure sale and a bond usualy needs to be deposited as well.

Not completely related, but after reading this carefully, is it safe to assume that if the LLC was to own bonds, debt instruments, dividend generating stocks or was to generate capital gains via selling appreciated assets (e.g.: stocks), the revenues made from those instruments wouldn't qualify for the 20% deduction?

If you want a little better rate but are willing to lose some flexibility, consider something like a good quality bond, or even buying some consumer debt with Lending Club (which does have a 3 or 5 year commitment on each loan).
