When the COVID quarntine started, I decided to pick up some books to read since I had some spare time, and one of those books was Rich Dad Poor Dad which was an eye opener.

As a brand new landlord, they may or may not count all or any of the property income until you have a couple years tax returns to back it up with.Keep it simple until you have a firmer grasp on how things work, for every person on here with a "I got rich and retired in 3 years with real estate" story, there are a million inactive accounts of people who got over leveraged and lost their seat at the table.Required reading:The Richest Man in BabylonThe Millionaire Real Estate InvestorGood luck brother! 

Running a successful STR comes down to 3 Ps: pics, people & pricing.1) Decorate your house nicely & pay a professional photographer to take some amazing pics2) Hire amazing people - cleaners, handyman, recruit some neighbors to help fill in the gaps, & self-manage or hire an offshore VA to manage the property if you'd rather make yourself rich instead of making a local property manager rich (more on that here: https://www.biggerpockets.com/... )3) Price fiercely to maximize profits not occupancy (they're not the same thing).

Family health/circumstances has me moving to Madison somewhat unexpectedly, so we'll likely be renting until we find a place to buy.I've been excited about real estate since I read (you guessed it) Rich Dad in about 2006.

There's a commercial airport that makes it just a one hour flight from SFO or DEN, plus a thriving tourism/vacation rental business (ex-covid) along the Coast, an outdoor recreation mecca,  and some world class golf courses that cinch it as a somewhat well kept secret for rich golfers.

I am a fan of bigger pockets and I have listened their podcast, especially on episode 250.i hope I can receive some tips and books to read i am currently reading the book on rental properties and have finished on rich dad poor dad I hope I can get advise on real estate and how it works thank you

After reading some books (Poor day rich dad, The millionaire real estate investor, Long distance investing by David Greene), and listening to tons of BP podcasts, I'm ready to get started.

It puts dollar-rich domestic manufacturers into competition with comparatively dollar-poor foreign manufacturers. 

This is an ongoing mission and is not going to happen overnight (then again, no one should invest in real estate as a way to "get rich quick").
