I think way way too many agents focus on the starting split....and don't realize they may be going to a brokerage with no training, no help, no support, no tools, and no other successful agents you will ever meet in the office to use as role models and be able to copy their systems.Teams can be a great place to start, but don't get sold only on teams. 

I think age plays a big role in how your place will be treated as well.

Yes, masonry leaks gases, but the real hazard might be questionable, the height of the chimney and the :geometry" involved, attic ventilation play a role in the safety aspects.I'd just suggest a second opinion, you could be had by an inspector being a little over the top, they do try to limit their liability as to their inspections, so some things should be taken with a grain of salt.So long as it passes code. that's the hurdle.

There is a geography that plays a role with the river and the freeways locking that area in.  

On the other hand, even though residents have very stable/unaffected income, a large portion of students/residents probably have backup from parents etc, I'm wondering if issues with spousal earnings/jobs and the general economic uncertainty is playing a role.
