.- basements are hand dug and therefore usually not deep - usually no structural issues (much more in 1960s buildings) but sometimes poor surface water management leading to damp spots.

This will, in the coming years, lead to poorly run governement housing and no other rental choices.There are a lot of reasons landowners don't want pets and especially cats in their units. 

To get the most accurate and up-to-date information your best bet is to get in touch with a realtor in the market you're looking to get set up with direct access to the MLS. 

I bet you have looked at quite a few properties in your time. 

I am reading Rich Dad Poor Dad now.

I just listened to Rich Dad Poor Dad, the Cash Flow Quadrant, and the Richest Man in Babylon. 

It seems to be astronomically different from what I have read in this book and the book 'one rental at a time' (along with things like rich dad poor dad etc) But keen to see all the pieces of the puzzle come together as I learn more.I have ZERO experience in property, I invest in Shares and Crypto and my partner has a 1 bedder (120k owing) that we rent out, We were looking to buy a home for ourselves but the market seems ridiculous atm and anything we had liked (small 3bedder single family home) I just don't think is worth 900+K and pushing our loan plus repayments to the max.

At any given time there is a number of poorly qualified applicants that are looking at every property hitting the market.
