I ended up selling to a news anchor off market who owned 2 other units on the first floor.

Zillow uses one, but that went VERY badly in the news lately.A person cannot pull a mortgage credit report.

Not looking for short-term cash flow investment here, more of an extended/combined family move-in situation so the news that it's not over-priced and not as competitive due to all those reasons that make it less investor-friendly may actually work in our favor here.

After reading up on some of the local news stories and resources on this topic, I'm more convinced than ever that these are issues local investors, homeowners and politicians will need to educate themselves on and take action on quickly...

Beckie - You can ask your CPA for his/her suggestion, but I think the biggest item is to track your payments (from LLC to personal) on an excel file and make note at the end of the year of the interest versus principle paid on the HELOC (which the bank should give you during year end statements) - in that way, you may be able to write off some of the interest.

But that’s when you need to push yourself and an excellent way of doing that is recalling what marathon runners call “Reaching into Your Cookie Jar”.
