Is it possible/within reason to manage your own property while living so far away AND working a full-time job?

I am looking at this as a full time career, and am willing to do much of the legwork myself when appropriate, in case anyone was wondering about my expected level of involvement.

If  the tenant paid the full year in advance, would the PM hold the money and dole it out on a monthly basis to the owner?
