I have been studying rental property investing for quite some time now, alot of people have their reasons for never starting their real estate journey. but whats holding me back is a simple question...

@Tony Ortiz-Myers find a well paying job or go to school, but study something useful is the best advice I can offer

The pure study of the law is very attractive to me but there are too few legal scholars these days. 

I just graduated from college in May and the best piece of advice I got while studying finance, entrepreneurship and real estate with the goal of becoming a full time real estate investor was to go work for a community bank.

My opinion is to start with apartment buildings by studying the ins and outs of the business, networking and possibly partnering with an experienced operator to help you learn and build your track record.

He never completed any of the typical soil study, phase 1, zoning request, etc. and therefore they did lose any money on the deal, but it cost us four months of dead marketing time and then had to restart the marketing process all over. 

They have knowledge and experience that is too valuable and can't be replaced online or by a lawyer who doesn't study their markets intimately.

Do i need to study a carreer to enter real estate investing or can i start reading and listening to podcasts to get into it?

I've been lurking these forums and studying RE for the past five or so years while in college.

Not sure how much you're into podcasts but I have found them to be very valuable; not only from a content perspective but also as an case study into what is possible through real estate.
