I'm not sure about The Colony or Lewisville, but Frisco / Plano have tight inventories and you will need to search hard in order to buy something that makes sense. 

I would likely want to buy and move in myself, and then rent out the other half.Have any of you in the DFW area (I live in Plano) invested in Duplexes before? 

I just want to meet up and the only ones in “Dallas” are usually like Addison or Plano or something.

We have a 4 bedroom single family rental in Plano, TX that have been vacant now for 90 days (!).

I'll also start networking with the DFW investors that my uncle in Plano is connected with.

I'm amazed at the amount of apartment development at the stops for example in Farmers Branch, Richardson, Carrollton, Lewisville, Plano.   

Frisco, 380 Corridor, Little Elm, Prosper, Celina, Plano, Hurst, North Richland Hills, Keller, Watauga, Roanoke, Denton, The Colony, Lewisville, and surrounding areas.

Find someone in Plano (develop a trusting relationship) that could guide you or, you could team up with on a deal.

I was told University park, Irving, Dallas, Plano are few cities to look at.
