Yes, if the management will not even step foot in the unit I would see if you could get coworker(s) or nearby friends that are willing do travel to be a witness to the condition.

I recently finished my own basement, a 1700 square foot space, on my own.

A smaller emergency fund but a newer home isn't as big a deal as a small emergency fund and a 50-year-old house.Can you foot the bill for a new furnace or a vacancy?
