You simply cannot provide the traffic those sites can produce for your rental and in my humble opinion your efforts are probably better spent optimizing and improving within there to maximize your rental numbers.  

We've got beautiful hiking throughout the state, access to beaches all along the eastern coast, Boston and NYC are in easy striking distance, a great airport with no traffic (Bradley), mostly wonderful schools, relatively low priced housing in much of the state, decent climate, a mostly liberal and tolerant social climate, and still plenty of corporate employers. 

I paid about $600 in Google Adwords, and only got traffic to my site (which is good to help with rankings), and yet AirBnB and VRBO have tens of millions of dollars in marketing behind them, so you want to focus on getting great reviews to help boost your position in their algorithms.
