Zillow isn't what it presents itself to be...good post and a good warning. 

The intent of this post was to try and identify where we’d get the most bang for our buck. 

We do have other investments in the market with our non-taxable assets (401K) which we plan to use post retirement age (60).

I can go on a long, long winded post but the reality is a lot of people's mistakes are the lessons you can learn from.I started out "investing", not REI, but just general investing in 2005.

My 2 main doubts are the rental prices and the crimes that have occurred around the area (wandering around on reddit posts and past news articles). 

I really appreciate all of the advice everyone has given here on this post.
