I'm not a CPA, just sharing my own experience as real estate investor: there are several ways you can reduce your tax burden with real estate investments, and given the example above (Doctor), I recommend you research on "real estate professional status" ... that will reduce your taxable income from a W2 job.

@Paul PassafiumeAgain, you are telling your employer at what rate to withhold based on a completed W-4 that you provide to them.If you read the W-4 instructions and complete the related worksheets appropriately, you should already taken into consideration filing status, other W-2 jobs, and other sources of income and deduction.
