Hi Jon,An I-Joist, I don' think they are designed to hang heavy things from.Hang 300 to 400 lbs from one of them and ruin it when it splinters into shards of toothpicks and you will have one unhappy owner.IMO it seems like a huge risk to try it.There just doesn't seem to be enough wood to handle it.I think either the glue will fail or it will just shard into pieces.

@Jon Robinson That sounds like a pretty cool project to add to the property.
