That company most likely needs to have certain qualifications/certifications that says they know how to do what they say they do.  

Has anyone completed a certificate program for property management?

They are only covered under Fair Housing, which only covers YOU, not your visitors.Most people with ESA literally just print a bogus certificate off the internet or buy a vest.

In the past, looking in NYC was no issue as they have an extremely helpful and detailed DOB website that lists any complaints, violations, Certificates of Occupany, etc. on every single property in the city. 

If you are a property manager of Apartment community than I would choose one less than 100 units unless you are comfortable managing than less than 200 units.As for certifications some require expierence + class while others require just classes.

For instance, I will suggest enrolling in Cornell's Commercial Real Estate Certificate Program.
