That is MAKING you MORE money even though on paper the cashflow on the original property might be negative. 2) You may not be able to keep the money busy 100% of the time in the #1 scenario, so you could stuff the money into a CD at 5% which is of course a 2% net loss, BUT the money is accessible when you find a better use for it such as in #1.
