Cut the contractor a break, he had a stroke for xxxx's sake.

Try doing posts and searches here on BP to look for Investors and/or contractors in your area.  

@Sunitha Alli - I would strongly suggest you get qualified contractor bids on a project like this.

For the local DC people if you can send me any of your best contacts for local private and hard money lenders, GC and Sub contractors, and any flippers who might be producing turn key or decent investments in the area I would appreciate the extra connections!

What I've learned with handymen and contractors and such is that they are very task-oriented, rather than big picture oriented.

Most contractors are reluctant to walk a property with someone who doesn't own the property.

Absolutely you can bring in professional help from a licensed contractor who can locate the problems and estimate repair costs and a timeframe of how long it will take.If you are working with a professional buyers agent,they should know a minimum of 3 excellent contractors who will give you a free estimate.
