And many of these firms are hiring talent of all ages certainly, but in the area of robotics, sciences and other technology fields, a lot of  young urban professionals are coming from CMU and need places to live close to these businesses. 

Certainly lying might work, but then you learn to rely on it rather than become a better salesperson. slippery slope-be honest, be direct, don't' get emotional about one deal, if you have to lie about being an investor then that's something you have to reconcile. my advice is to be proud of what you're doing and use your talent to provide a win/win. being an Investor isn't a bad thing.

It doesn't get you rich quick, but I don't think there is a better long-term investment when you consider everything...absent maybe starting your own business exploiting your talents.
