With a duplex which are super common in Milwaukee you are in that in-between space where most owners try to make the tenants do it, but that can be tricky.

These tenants tend to be reliable and respectful of the space—often more so than the varied guest pool with short-term rentals. 

There are a few options if you feel uncomfy and don’t want to rent out rooms in your main space.

It’s normal to feel like you don’t have enough knowledge at the start, but these meetups are a space for learning and building relationships.

If they give you push back, tell them if they are not ok with you doing work inside while they occupy the space then you won't be moving forward with the work as you are not obligated to complete cosmetic upgrades.
