I wouldn't go to home depot or lowes for something that specific.I'm sure you're trying to keep costs down, but you may want to bid out a full replacement vs. the paint.

All that aside Home Depot sells 10 year built in lithium powered smoke detectors for 24$ where the battery is not removable and put it up as high as possible screw it directly into the wall instead of a spin off plate so it can’t be easily taken down
