There are plenty of community organizations (eg churches, charities) that they could reach out to for help and they should have done that sooner. 

The sooner you regain control, prove that you fully intend to enforce the terms of your lease, and that you will not be 'played' by their recall of events or documents, the more effective this action will be.  

But because this is an older home that could use some renovations and the idea you may move back to Austin sooner than later, I would seriously consider keeping the home for now.  

I am a semi-recent Baselane user and the only thing I regret is that I didn't find it sooner!

It worked out beautifully... they met their deadlines and profit goals and had the break they needed.Perhaps selling one property sooner is the solution?
