If it's not done, the city is going to issue you a violation and saying the tenants were supposed to do it is not going to be a valid defense.

Paragraph 6 of your Deed of Trust (unless your state has a state-specific DoT) says you need to intend to live in it for a year, which was indeed your intent at the time.If you violate this and the lender is feeling prickly, the standard recourse is to call the note due to be paid in full within X days, as allowed by law.Ya know what happens as a matter of course when you sell a home?
