You'll get to meet a few of the local wholesalers, some hard money lenders, and talk to many folks actively flipping in the area.  

Note that you definitely should not tell any lender you are a first time buyer regardless. 

Are lenders pulling back or am I just not shopping the right ones?

Even some commercial lenders will have an option.

Hell wit the type of money you have access to I'd almost rather see you become a private money lender for another experienced flipper, who has made the mistakes, has a proven track record, has the dealflow, and the crews, and will pay you a handsome return on your money. 

A good HM lender wants things approved and closed so you can start work.
