I'm sure I'm reading in to things, but this statement obviously implies that Obama (or someone in his camp) was asked about the possibility of compensation for the position.I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't make that kind of request if it was completely unexpected.

An argument can be made that since the buyer knew that the portion of the house was added or converted illegally therefor, the buyer (owner) failed to take the necessary steps to avoid damage or accident.

Don't be in a hurry to do a deal unless you have independent corroboration that it is truly an exceptional investment (if you had life throw you a terrible curve after you purchased the property - serious accident, illness, etc. - you could put it on the market and very quickly - within a month or less - after all expenses related to the purchase, holding costs, and costs of sale you'd do no worse than break even).

Fixtures have a tendency to go missing on jobsites and it is virtually impossible to tell (even for the GC sometimes) if it was theft, accident, or what happened.In your position, I'd offer to split the cost of the replacement parts with the GC.

And that's right after I bought it (meaning it wasn't a value add deal)So I'm not saying $150/unit is some paper estimate based on what I expect per unit for rent minus my costs, and not budgeting for unexpected issues.
