That would be a very good move, I'd also ask them to sign a new lease with you but you can't insist because you must honor their current contract.

Rather, I would ask a general question like "can you pay move-in costs upon signing a lease?" 

May be different in your area but I’ve seen 100-150 for a lease renewal
