They think they are big time business owners who can skip hiring general contractors and end up hiring handymen or day laborers from craigslist who call themselves general contractors.They are almost always going to offer a cheaper rate then an actual contracting company with an administrative staff, marketing budget, licensing, fleet of vehicles etc.....Thing is it's not actually a 100% certainty that they will do (or properly do) the job you've hired them to do.
